The Model LSS1 Lamp Recycling System achieves the goal of setting a higher standard for simplicity, safety, and recycling efficiency. The development of the Model LSS1 marks the beginning of a new era of efficiency in the lamp processing industry. With more than five times the filtration capacity of our previous models, the Model LSS1 can process over 4,000 lamps per hour with virtually no fugitive emissions.

Dry Processing - Lamps enter the system on a power feed belt passing through a negative pressure air chamber. Each lamp is crushed, separating glass and metal components into individual byproduct storage bins. Phosphor powder collects in a multistage filtration system. This powder can be thermally treated in other equipment to recover elemental mercury for commercial reuse. Mercury vapors absorb into activated carbon filters eliminating any fugitive emissions during processing.

Computer control panelComputer Control - Every Model LSS1 is fully computerized to provide simplicity in start-up and safeguards during operations. The touch screen control module provides one touch start-up for the entire system. Throughout the process, as each collection drum fills, it is monitored. When a collection drum is full the lamp feed system is shut down and an alarm screen notifies operator of location of full container. Available options enable you to continuously monitor and record system exhaust for your permanent records.

Environmental Monitoring - The Model LSS1 may include optional equipment that continuously monitors exhaust vents and provides a permanent record of system air quality.

ENVIRONMENTAL SURVEY

Environmental Investigations (EI) was retained for the performance of industrial hygiene air sampling for inorganic Mercury Vapor while conducting normal work operations using the Model LSS1. Air samples were taken in several areas to determine potential exposures to mercury vapor while employees worked at and around a fluorescent lamp recycling machine in the enclosed processing area.

Laboratory results indicated that all of the airborne levels of inorganic or elemental Mercury Vapor detected were well within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) permissible exposure limits (PEL's) and American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) threshold limit values (TLV's). All air samples were collected in the vicinity of the Model LSS1 during operations.
